From tastewar at alum.mit.edu Fri Jan 9 18:28:45 2015 From: tastewar at alum.mit.edu (Tom Stewart) Date: Fri, 9 Jan 2015 18:28:45 -0500 Subject: [PoolPlayers] Bye Week Message-ID: Congratulations! You all managed to earn a bye in the playoff pool last week, even if you didn't realilze it. You didn't have to make your picks, and nobody got ahead of you. The other theory is that I had the pool 85% ready, hit a stumbling block, and got too busy to figure it out until now. You decide. In any case, the main pool URL now redirects to the week 2 pool page, so you may go and make your picks. Oh, and if you *are* interested in making picks, please remember that kickoff of the first game this weekend is 4:35 p.m. tomorrow! So get your picks in before then, please!! As a special bonus since I was late getting the pool up, I will waive the customary entrance feel, ;-) Oh, and there's absolutely no/zero/zilch pressure to play. Do so only if you wish to. Cheers, and enjoy the playoffs! --Tom -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Message-ID: Howdy folks! Hope this update finds you all well. The results from week 11 have been posted to the site, and the pick sheet for week 12 is up and running, tirelessly. As this is Thanksgiving week, I want to first wish everyone a great holiday. I hope you have time off to enjoy family and/or friends, and have safe travels to and fro. Remember: in addition to the great celebration, there will be football played on Thursday. My family and I will be going to watch Arlington High School play in their traditional Thanksgiving Day game against Arlington Catholic. Go out and support your local high school team if you can! And after that, there are no less than 3 NFL games (pretty sure no more than 3 either. Which is to say, exactly 3) to entertain you, should your family and friends fail to do so, or if that's what you like to do together. And with that in mind, why not take the opportunity right now, while you are interacting with a computing device, to enter your picks for the upcoming week? That way, it won't be hanging over your head on Thursday morning, threatening to be forgotten while you watch your local high school football team beat up on their rivals. Or vice versa. Deadline is 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, when the first game of the weekend kicks off! And this week, we're back to a full schedule. We had a lovely visit from the Rowells, all the way from Denver, and we even hosted a "Pool Party" on Sunday night for the Pats/Broncos game. (Sorry to those who couldn't make it!) The two Denverites made up for their lack of numbers with sheer enthusiasm, at least at the end of the game. Week 13 is upon us, and for the superstitious among us, I wish you some rationality. :-) Results from week 12 are posted, and the sheet is ready for pickin'! -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... In-Reply-To: References: Message-ID: Hi Folks- The site has now been updated, with over 4 hours to go! The site's deadline is still kickoff (8:25 p.m.) of tonight's game. This seems like an appropriate time, though, for me to remind everyone of pool.tastewar.com's policy for pick deadlines. The web site will allow you to enter picks until kickoff of the first game of the weekend. BTW, there's about a 15 minute grace period there, so if you *just* missed the deadline, please try the site! After the web site no longer accepts entries, you can email me your picks (or phone them in, if you prefer), and I will enter them. Note: I will look at the time your email was sent, and use that to determine whether any picks must be excluded. For example, if you sent me your picks at 3:00 on Sunday afternoon, I won't accept picks for any games prior to the late afternoon Sunday games. On the other hand, if they were sent at 1:20, I will likely accept the early Sunday games as well. It's a judgment call, and y'all trust me, right???? As for this week, if you emailed me picks, I will enter them *after* I have retrieved all the site-entered picks. That means that any picks you emailed me will take precedence over web-entered ones. If you only emailed me a pick for tonight's game, you can either choose to enter them all via the web site (if possible...) or email me the rest of them *before Sunday's first kickoffs at 1:00!* Sorry about the inconvenience. --Tom On Thu, Dec 10, 2015 at 9:29 AM, Tom Stewart wrote: > Please stand by... > > (actually, it's just been a very busy week. My year has been so bad that in our own family contest with Flo, my brother Pete, sister-in-law Judy and nephew Mark, the Texas members of my family, I am in next to last place one point ahead of Judy, who picked Tenn. every week except one ( which game Tenn. won).
